Tracking User Behavior

NAESCO may keep track of the websites and pages our users visit within our website domain to determine user engagement of NAESCO services. This data is used to deliver customized content to customers whose behavior indicate they are interested in a particular topic.

Use of Cookies

"Cookies" are small bits of text that are either used for (a) the duration of the session ("session cookies"), or (b) saved on a user's hard drive to identify that user or information about that user, the next time the user logs on to a website ("persistent cookies").

NAESCO’s website uses persistent cookies. Session specific cookies may be used to improve the user experience and for basic web metrics. These cookies expire in a short time frame or when a browser window closes.

Cookies usually consist of letters and numbers and will not identify you directly. One primary purpose of cookies is to save you time. For example, when you return to NAESCO’s website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the features you customized.

Our cookie banner appears when you enter our website for the first time. Most web browsers accept cookies, but you can change your browser settings to decline cookies as an overall preference. If you do this, you may not be able to fully experience all features of our website.

Security of Your Personal Information

NAESCO secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure by encrypting your information using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Protocol.

We strive to take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access or alteration of your personal information. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet or any wireless network is 100% secure. As a result, while we aim to protect your personal information, you acknowledge: (a) there are inherent security and privacy limitations which are beyond our control; and (b) security, integrity, and privacy of all data exchanged through this website cannot be guaranteed.

Storing Your Personal Data

NAESCO’s website is wholly based and only stores data in the United States. Organizations that provide data processing services to us do so under contract and may be based outside of the United States. We will only allow them to do so if your data is adequately protected.

Retention of Your Personal Data

NAESCO will retain your personal data for as long as we have a genuine and legitimate reason, and not harming any of your rights and interests. This will depend on our legal obligations, the nature and type of information, and the reason we collected it. For example, should you opt out of receiving marketing emails, we will stop storing your email address for marketing purposes.

We continuously review what information we hold and will delete personal data that is no longer required or needed.

Your Rights

NAESCO wants to ensure you remain in control of your personal data and that you understand your legal rights, which are:

  • the right to know whether we hold your personal data and, if we do, be sent a copy of that personal data (a 'subject access request') within one month;
  • the right to have your personal data erased (unless it is necessary to use the data for a lawful reason);
  • the right to have inaccurate personal data rectified;
  • the right to object to your personal data being used for marketing or profiling; and
  • the right to be given a copy of personal data that you provided (which we process automatically with your consent) in a common electronic format.

There are some exceptions to the rights above and although we will always try to respond to any instructions you give us, there may be situations where we are unable to fully meet your requirements.

If you'd like further information on your rights or wish to exercise them, please contact Michelle Yoon, NAESCO’s Manager of Operations, at michelle.yoon@naesco.org.
