Member News: Blue Energy Group Expands Team and Services

Energy Tax Credit and Cost Segregation Expertise added nationwide

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, July 10, 2024 Blue Energy Group, the Louisville-based company specializing in energy tax incentives, announced today that Charles Duncan has been hired as the Managing Director of Cost Segregation and Peter Randolph has been hired as the Vice President of Business Development. These new roles will expand Blue Energy Group’s ability to assist building owners in claiming Investment Tax Credits for renewable energy property as well as offer traditional Cost Segregation services.

The Inflation Reduction Act increased several key tax incentives including Investment Tax Credits and expanded eligibility for accelerated depreciation that is available to commercial building owners. In their roles, Peter and Charles will respectively drive the expansion and oversee operations of Blue Energy’s energy tax credit and cost segregation services.

“We are delighted that Peter and Charles have joined our team to spearhead our growth in the Energy Tax Services arena,” said Josh Howes, CEO of Blue Energy Group. “Peter’s extensive experience in the industry along with the relationships he has built will serve us well as we continue to grow our service offerings, providing ‘cradle to grave’ tax solutions to our customers. Charles also brings much-needed experience with more than twenty-seven years of experience in cost segregation and fixed assets to the team.”

Charles has worked at both KPMG and EY and was the National Practice Leader of multiple cost segregation practices. He has performed or managed thousands of studies in diverse industries with clients ranging from family businesses to Fortune 500 companies. He is a sought-after speaker on depreciation related topics such as the TPRs, TCJA and CARES Act. In the last decade, he has given hundreds of hours of Continuing Professional Education throughout the country.

Peter has worked with and for Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) for more than thirty years developing and executing performance contracts across the country. “I am very excited to join Blue Energy Group at a time when the industry appears to be moving in an upward trajectory,” said Peter. “The tax credits and incentives are benefiting ESCO’s and their customers in big ways, however, navigating the IRS rules and requirements takes considerable knowledge and accuracy. Maximizing 179D incentives and IRA tax credits is what Blue Energy Group does best, which ultimately will provide customers with the confidence that they need to fully comply with the requirements.”

Blue Energy Group is a national tax and engineering firm that partners with building owners as well as accounting and design firms to deliver audit-proof tax certifications for energy-efficient building projects.
