Are you a Business Development professional with Distributed Energy Resource (DER), Microgrid (MG), Back Up Generation (BUG) or Energy Storage (ES) sales experience?  If so, then we have the perfect position for you.  Xcel Energy is seeking an experienced sales professional to generate leads, quote, negotiate and close resiliency projects.

Position Summary
The Strategic Energy Solutions Manager (SESM) is a subject matter expert and “hunter” of sales for an assigned product offering. Role is aligned by a product of expertise (either Resiliency as a Service, Facilities as a Service or other product category). The SESM owns the sales process and works with the Xcel Energy account management teams to sell new solutions to current and new relationships within a customer’s organization. Coordinate internal stakeholders, including support, engineering, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations.

This position can be filled in Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN. Telecommuting Policy: A plan has been created to officially rollout a hybrid work-from-home option that will take effect when it is safe to move forward to return to the workplace. This position will participate in this new policy. 


Essential Responsibilities

  • Work with customers and other sales channels to prospect, identify, develop, optimize, price, negotiate, and close large commercial and industrial energy related projects including microgrids, backup generation, energy storage, and renewable energy implementations.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand issues, industry developments, competitors, market factors, pricing strategies, value proposition, etc. and make sales proposals.
  • Develop, manage, and forecast sales to achieve or exceed quota for specific targeted programs.
  • Provide customer feedback to help develop new, innovative solutions and achieve exemplary customer experiences.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 5 years of industry-related sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High technical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute sales plans for large projects with a total contract value of $5M or more.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and the ability to successfully collaborate with and present to customers to drive major projects.
  • Professional on the phone, video, and in person.
  • Self-starter who works well in fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products.
