Investing in a Clean Energy
Future Starts with Energy Efficiency: The Southeastern States Stake a
Claim in the Race to be Green and Energy Efficient
The Southeastern states have started working toward a clean energy
future that will create thousands of jobs. Severe budget constraints
have begun to transform regional attitudes about energy efficiency. At
least some regulators and utilities have come to recognize that energy
efficiency resources are the cheapest "fuel" to use in creating a
cost-effective energy portfolio and an effective way for building owners
and managers to cut operating costs. The impact of the American Recovery
and Reinvestment Act funding in the region is one significant part of
the overall push to transform the region*s economy through clean energy
technologies, practices, and programs.
This workshop will both provide a snapshot of the current energy
efficiency marketplace in the region and highlight the changing market
forces. The sessions will look at the new opportunities for the industry
to educate customers about the value of ESCO delivered projects as the
fastest, cleanest and cheapest way to reduce energy use. It will also
provide potential customers with enough information to better understand
the multiple economic benefits of implementing an aggressive energy
efficiency strategy in their facilities.
